Today the festival of joy takes place at Heldenplatz. May 8th, 1945 is the day of the official end of the Second World War in Europe. May 8th not only celebrates the liberation from Nazi rule, but above all commemorates those people who were persecuted and murdered by the Nazis.
At 19:30 there will be a ceremony at Heldenplatz with our Federal President, the Mauthausen Committee and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.

Heute findet das Fest der Freude am Heldenplatz statt. Der 8. Mai 1945 ist der Tag des offiziellen Endes des Zweiten Weltkrieges in Europa. Am 8. Mai wird nicht nur die Befreiung von der nationalsozialistischen Herrschaft gefeiert, sondern vor allem auch an jene Menschen gedacht, die von den Nationalsozialisten verfolgt und ermordet wurden.
Um 19:30 findet am Heldenplatz eine Feier mit unserem Bundespräsidenten, dem Mauthausen Komitee und den Wiener Symphonikern statt.
