Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Grand Challenges

In 2015 the UN adopted the 2030 Agenda: a comprehensive plan with 17 goals and 169 sub-goals for the sustainable, fair, just, healthy, ecological and economic development of our planet. These 17 goals are known as Global Sustainability Goals or Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and address the grave grievances of our time (Grand Challenges). As the official goal and model of the United Nations, the 2030 Agenda supports sustainability-oriented activities to a large extent.

In order to contribute to the SDGs, we have set ourselves the following goals:

  • Together with other BOKU institutes, we act as a point of contact with regard to the SDGs for BOKU-internal & BOKU-external stakeholders
  • We are involved in the UniNEtZ project and other SDG projects
  • We run a foresights working group
