Online Q&A Session

This call is directed at researchers in Vienna, who seek to address a biological or clinical research question through de novo development or redesign of biological components or systems.

Strongly encouraged are interdisciplinary projects between biologists, clinicians and researchers from additional discipline

The funding size per project is 400,000 up to 900,000 Euro (or 950,000 Euro for joint projects with NÖ), for a duration of 24 up to 48 months.

This is a 2-step call, with the following deadlines:

Deadline for short proposals: 090424

Deadline for full proposal: 200824

The projects are submitted online, via: WWTF Funding Portal

 

In order to be able to guarantee a timely submission, please comply with the following internal procedure:

To calculate the staff costs as accurately as possible, please use the BOKU calculator boku.ac.at/fos/projektsupport/downloads to estimate the starting personal cost for 2025.

Do not forget that the project´s start is approximately in June 2025, and that WWTF requires a yearly inflation rate for the salaries of 6%.

Calculate an overhead of 20 % (indirect cost) on personal plus on all direct costs (material cost, travels, conferences, publications...).

Do not include overheads on subcontracting and internally invoiced goods and services (for instance if you plan to include services from a BOKU Core Facility).

If you are unsure about your budget calculation, please let us know before you validate the ePM.

Forward the ePM to FoS-PS

For the electronic pre-submission clearance (ePM), the draft of the proposal with a good approximation of budget calculation description is sufficient (excel sheet). Try to finalize your budget as much as possible, as you will not be able to bring significant changes anyway in the WWTF portal between the short proposal and full proposal.

You are not allowed to submit the short proposal at WWTF if this pre-clearance step has not been validated by the head of the department before the submission deadline.

 

By 010424 at the latest:

Create the application in WWTF submission portal, and finalize the forms and attachments as much as possible.

You can first fill-up your profile with your CV in "My Profile" and then determine your role for your proposal.

As soon as the application has been entered online, you can upload the signature sheet as pdf document.

Only researchers part of the Core Team Member, i. e. PI and co-PI, have to submit this sheet.

 

Who can sign?

If only one BOKU Department is involved in your project, then forward this sheet yourself to the head of your department.

If more than one Department from BOKU is involved, Vice-rector Obinger has to sign it.

Send us the signature sheet - before April 1,2024 - as we will collect them and send them ourself to the VR directly.

On April 4, 2024, you should have them back and you can then upload them on the WWTF portal.

You need either an electronic signature or a physical signature.

All the PIs of the Core Team Member can upload separately their own signature sheets.

By 090424, 14:00, at the latest: Deadline for the submission of the short-proposal in the WWTF Portal

Only the main PI will be able to submit the proposal, neither the co-PIs nor BOKU FoS.

No prolongation will be given by WWTF if documents, i. e. the signature sheet, are missing.
