European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO)

The European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) fellowships aim to support talented researchers at all stages of their careers, to stimulate the exchange of scientific information and to promote their international reputation and insure mobility. Applicants to the fellowships should conduct research in EMBO´s field of interest*.

EMBO offers several fellowships, awards & grants, from early-career postdocs up to group leaders, including:

 

EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowships

No Deadline

Support of excellent researchers for up to two years to gain mobility experience. EMBO Grantee will receive a living allowance (e. g. 73,800 Euro/year for Austria) to cover their cost of living in the host country. A detail of the rates for other countries are to be found here.

Applicant must hold a doctorate, not longer than two years before the application deadline. Applicants must have at least one first author publication. Application must involve international mobility, but applications implying to move back to the country in which the PhD was obtained will not be eligible.

Candidates who have already started working in the host laboratory can apply only if they have been working in the host laboratory for less than six months at the time the application.

EMBO Young Investigator Programme

Deadline: 010424

Support of life scientists, who are young group leaders, in setting up their laboratories. Young Investigators receive four years of financial support for networking, benefit from training opportunities, and receive support for their lab members and mentoring. EMBO YIP Grantees will receive a financial award of 15,000 Euros dedicated to networking activities.

Applicant should have been independent group leader for at least one year but less than four years. By independent, EMBO means “being able to apply for grants in your own name, submitting publications as last author, supervisor of students in the lab”.

EMBO Scientific Exchange Grants

No deadline

This grant is intended to stimulate researcher to conduct visits abroad. Visits from one week up to three months can be awarded. The funding rate depends on the country to be visited. Find the list here (e. g. 93 Euro/day for Austria).

Researchers at any stage of their career, but with a minimum of one year at PhD level. Visit to laboratories in which the applicants have already conducted research, are already collaborating or in which previous applicant´s supervisor currently works will not be considered.

Core Facility Fellowships

No deadline

Stimulate training of staff working in core facilities by visiting another CF located abroad, from one week up to one month. This fellowship covers the travels and subsistence of the fellow. The rate depends on the country to be visited. Find the list here (e. g. 93 Euro/day for Austria).

Applicant must be a researcher or technician working in a CF with at least one year of lab experience. Applications to visit a CF in the context of an existing collaboration will not be considered.
