Neue Ersatzmethoden für Tierversuche erforschen // Alternative Methods to Animal Testing
Um die Etablierung alternativer Methoden weiter zu beschleunigen, bietet der Wissenschaftsfonds FWF mit Mitteln des Wissenschaftsministeriums ein österreichweites Förderprogramm zur Erforschung von Ersatzmethoden für Tierversuche an.
Gefördert werden Projekte, die einen wesentlichen Beitrag zur Entdeckung und Entwicklung alternativer Methoden leisten und damit dem „3R-Prinzip“ entsprechen.
Förderdauer und Förderhöhe:
- Maximal 48 Monate
- Je nach Projekt können projektspezifische Mittel (Personal- und Sachmittel) beantragt werden. Die Höhe der beantragten Fördersumme ist ausschlaggebend für die notwendige Anzahl an Gutachten.

Alternative Methods to Animal Testing
Projects in line with the 3Rs principle
With funding from the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF), the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) is inviting researchers from all disciplines to submit innovative projects in the field of research and development of alternative methods to animal experiments. The objective is to gain the new knowledge needed to be able to increasingly avoid experimentation on animals.
Projects that make a significant contribution to the discovery and development of alternative methods in line with the 3Rs principle are eligible for funding.
Funding period and funding amount:
- Maximum 48 months
- Depending on the proposed research, project-specific funds (personnel and non-personnel costs) can be applied for. The number of reviews required depends on the amount of funding requested.
