As part of the project “KinderBOKU educational kit”, fields of knowledge of BOKU are being prepared for children ages 4-10 with the intention to arouse curiosity and offer them an early and lively way into the life sciences at BOKU. The fields climate, energy, water, food, agricultural engineering, forest, waste, botany, zoology, geology, plant production and wildlife each have their own educational kit developed and prepared.

Implementation and features of the project:

  • KinderBOKU educational kit is a low-threshold educational offer for all children ages 4-10. When being prepared, the educational kit focuses on designing content for children of different previous knowledge and experiences.

  • KinderBOKU educational kit is used in kindergarten, elementary school as well as outside of school in the educational sector of Stadt Wien (e.g. public library Vienna, main library Vienna and branches).

  • Preparation of the fields of knowledge and “knowledge transfer with the educational kit” is done by scientists and students of the respective field at BOKU with support of kindergarten- and elementary teachers

  • The project connects to the everyday lives of the children – knowledge transfer happens in the everyday lives of the children.

  • The whole project work is being scientifically guided and the different development processes are being evaluated. The pedagogical concept of the educational kit is being analyzed in the form of a scientific paper.
The project is being supported by vom Zentrum für Innovation und Technologie (ZIT) of Stadt Wien
