European Food Science and Technology Prize


Felix Schottroff, PhD student at the BOKU Institute of Food Technology, was awarded the Student of the Year Award sponsored by Cargill within the framework of the 30th EFFoST International Conference for his innovative work at the interface of food and bio process engineering.

The 30th EFFoST International Conference of the European Federation of Food Science and Technology (EFFoST) was held in Vienna, Austria in November 28-30, 2016. The conference was attended by over 370 scientists from 51 countries from the fields of food science and technology. The local organization was conducted by the BOKU Institute of Food Technology.

Felix Schottroff was awarded the first prize of the EFFoST Student of the Year Award for his presentation on the "continuous multi-enzymatic synthesis of dietary supplements in specifically developed miniaturized enzyme membrane reactors", where he innovatively linked food and bio process engineering for the production of food ingredients with sustainable and environmentally friendly biotechnological processes. The award is sponsored by Cargill Inc. and was presented by Didier Bonnet (Cargill Global Food Research Leader) and Lilia Ahrné (EFFoST President).
