Forgotten Password?

Brief Description

What to do when you have forgotten the password for your BOKU account.

Here is information on what to do when you have forgotten the password for your BOKU account:

  • as a student, come to the IT-Hotline and bring your student ID.
  • as a staff member, if you personally know the IT manager of your department, please contact him/her. Otherwise, please come to the IT-Hotline and bring photo identification.

For a new PIN code, you can individually reset your password using your new PIN code

The procedure is identical to the one explained in "Create an Account", regardless of whether the IT manager or IT Hotline provides the PIN code. In this case, the PIN code is directly handed over to you since you cannot access your emails without the password.

Redeem the PIN Code

When you have received your new PIN code, start BOKUonline and click on the key symbol in order to open the regular login screen.

In the lower part of this screen (labelled "Registration"), click on "Students - Enter your PIN code here" or "Staff Members - Enter your PIN code here" respectively.

Now you can see the page to type in your PIN code.

  • Students should enter their PIN code (in the input field labelled "PIN code") as well as their 7-digits student registration number (in the input field labelled "Matrikelnummer" or "registration number") and their date of birth (in the input field labelled "Geburtsdatum" or "date of birth", in the format DDMMYYYY). This serves as protection against misuse.
  • Staff members should type in their PIN code (in the input field labelled "PIN code") as well as their date of birth (in the input field labelled "Geburtsdatum" or "date of birth", in the format DDMMYYYY). This serves as protection against misuse.
  • Click on "Save" in order to store the data.

You can now reset your password on the page that then appears.

Type in your new, personal and secret password and click "Save".
