The IVe is participating in the Interreg project EcoVeloTour, which facilitates the development of sustainable tourism in the Danube region along the EuroVelo routes.

The BOKU Institute for Transport Studies is participating in the Interreg project EcoVeloTour, funded by the Danube Transnational Programme. On 3 October 2018 the Kick-Off Conference took place at the Corvinus University in Budapest.

EcoVeloTour facilitates the development of sustainable tourism in the Danube region along the EuroVelo routes, mainly in Southeast European countries which are not yet typical cycle tourism destinations. By providing implementation guidelines for a conscious ecological framework for the management of tourism destinations, the extension of cycle tourism to neighbouring regions off the EuroVelo routes will be enabled. The framework will be supported by a Sustainable Mobility Guideline developed by the Institute for Transport Studies. This directive is a key element for targeted ecotourism planning, especially in the case of cycle tourism.
