Regenerative Medicine and Tissue Engineering

BOKU hosted the pre-conference workshop “Regenerate” ahead of a major conference in September in Valencia.

This year’s “Tissue Science & Regenerative Medicine” conference will be held on September 24th to 26th in Valencia. Preceding the conference, the workshop “Regenerate”, which was initiated by Prof. Cornelia Kasper (Department of Biotechnology) took place at University of Natural Resources and Life Science, Vienna (BOKU) on 30th June 2014. Renowned experts from the US, Germany and Austria were invited to present and discuss the following topics of regenerative medicine and tissue engineering:

Tissue Engineering and Cell Based Therapies: Past, Present, Future, clinical needs, regulation and market opportunities and veterinary regenerative medicine. The presentations, which covered all aspects of the interdisciplinary "essentials" of tissue engineering, were followed by a lively panel discussion moderated by Prof. Peter Johnson (Co-Editor-in-Chief of Tissue Engineering journal). One highlight of the workshop was the intensive exchange between academic researchers and clinicians, which also provided a unique opportunity for young scientists to be engaged in high level discussions and networking. Quotes from participants: "The findings in regenerative medicine and tissue engineering including market relevant issues presented at the symposium are very encouraging, but there are still many unanswered questions requiring investigation and clarification."

"I am very impressed by the selection of the speakers:"

"The workshop format made it easy to directly communicate with the speakers and benefit from their feedback and advice:"
