What makes the BOKU offset projects different?

The BOKU system is about more than just offsetting greenhouse gases. The goal is – through pilot projects accompanied by research and development – to facilitate structural and sustainable changes on-site and make a valuable contribution to climate protection!  Through initial financing in the form of offset contributions, structural changes such as those taking place in the Ethiopian highlands (see BOKU offset project) can be set in motion. The projects which are selected by the advisory board aim to act as impulses for innovative climate protection measures on-site which should over time, through collaboration between the local population and science, develop into self-carrying climate protection programmes.
