Wanted: Innovative Ideas for Agriculture!

Participate in the Hackathon and develop a useful contribution for African agriculture and land management.

We are looking for students from the fields of agriculture, water management, software design or economics for the Agriculture in Africa Hackathon.

This competition is an opportunity to gain knowledge on a specific topic and to develop a practical and useful tool for further use. Products can be papers, project proposals or software applications. We don‘t set borders, but encourage you to be innovative.

We will kick-off the event on June 18th at 5 pm at BOKU in Peter Jordan Str. 82 (room to be announced).

Preliminary programme:

  • We will get to know each other at the kick-off event, explain the contents and rules.
  • You will be working between June and September independently (in thematic groups) to analyse the problem.
  • We will meet again for an intensive 4-day training course (17-21 Sept.), where invited speakers will deliver their lectures and spend the afternoon with you in round-table discussions.
  • In October-December, the thematic groups will develop a paper, a project proposal or a software.
  • We will have a final presentation of your results in front of a jury with the award of a prize (December 2018)!

Register by June 15th at 5 pm (we have limited spaces) with a short email to Laura Essl:  laura.essl[at]boku.ac.at
