Lehrinhalt

Content and Objectives
The objective of seminar is to progress the idea of looking at the careers of female experts in the field of disaster risk reduction as well as foresty.
“On Stage 2018” will take place in an interdisciplinary team teaching setting and is accompanied by lectures on gender and diversity aspects in the context of planning disciplines, disaster risk reduction and foresty.
The main task of the participants is to prepare a exhibition at the main library of the BOKU Vienna.
The design and layout of the exhibition is based on the concept of On Stage 2016. In a team of two, portraits of female experts in practice and research will be produced and edited for the exhibition. The exhibition will be in German and English. Furthermore, we will explore the history and role of female experts in the field of disaster risk reduction and foresty. The research process and results will be documented in the exhibition as well as in a report.

Inhaltliche Voraussetzungen (erwartete Kenntnisse)

The course is intended for Master’s students and for advanced Bachelor’s students in Landscape Planning and Landscape Architecture, Foresty Mountain Risk Management, Environmental Engineering and Environment and Bio-Resource Management, Foresty.

Lehrziel

After completion of this course students understand the theoretical and methodical background of gender planning and are able to address gender issues in planning processes. In addition, they will have learned how to research biographies and present them in an exhibition.
