Goal of Lecture:

• Knowledge of basic definitions of technology and feasibility of change in the social context
• Perception of the reality in Water & Sanitation Sector in rural areas of developing countries, capability for critical reflection of technology development
• Assessment of impact of socio-economic and cultural context on infrastructure planning process, construction, operation and maintenance and resource management
• Knowledge of instruments for developing appropriate technologies in the water and sanitation context in rural areas of developing countries
• Knowledge of tangible implementation of appropriate technology in developing countries

• Discussion about development of appropriate technologies in the context of projects/ programmes for Water supply and Sanitation in rural areas in Zambia, Kenya, Uganda, Mozambique, Palestine

Group workshop: SWOT analysis, Participative system analysis, feasibility assessment by social mapping
