Call for applications: Limnology & Wetland Management


International Joint Masters’ Degree Programme commencing in Oct. 2019

Candidates interested in applying for academic admission to the "International Joint Masters’ Degree Programme in Limnology & Wetland Management (LWM)", commencing in October 2019, can submit their application documents for academic admission until the 16th of December 2018.

The LWM Master’s programme provides:

  • fundamental understanding of the structure and functioning of freshwater ecosystems;
  • expert skills to assess the ecological status of freshwater ecosystems, to plan & carry-out monitoring programmes and to develop suitable conservation & restoration measures; and
  • professional skills to apply methods and tools to reduce the degradation of freshwater ecosystems & its services and to develop sustainable management options.


LWM is a well-established international joint degree masters’ programme, fully accredited in Austria, The Netherlands and Kenya. The MSc programme structure/curriculum consists of three semesters of 4-months each, which are held in Austria (University of Natural Resources & Life Sciences, Vienna - BOKU), Kenya (Egerton University) and The Netherlands (IHE Delft), followed by a 7-months research period at one of the three partner institutions, or the home country (to be decided in consultation with the LWM consortium).
