EU Commission proposal for Erasmus 2021-2027 is out


EUA calls for further reflection on programme proposal

The much-awaited proposal of the European Commission (EC) for the next generation of the Erasmus programme came out on 30 May 2018. As already indicated, the proposed budget for the Erasmus programme is EUR 30 billion: double the amount of the current Erasmus+ programme (EUR 14,7 billion).

The EUA (European University Association) has weighed the proposal against the university sector’s recommendations and finds that policy makers need to further reflect on how much it will really cost to fulfil the ambitious goals set out at the 2017 Gothenburg Social Summit and the related Commission Communication, in particular the creation of a “European Education Area”.
