CommTECH program is a special short course program which is designed to facilitate a broad opportunity to better understand common issues regarding community and technology, especially in Indonesia and to open up an opportunity to exchange ideas and develop a mutual vision for the future of our community.

In this program, we offer 3 sub unique courses in which students will learn and gain global teamwork experience with the Project-Based Learning method:

  1. Sub - Course A: Sociopreneurship in Action: Solving Problem by Doing Business
    In this course, participants will be introduced to the concept of social entrepreneurship, which is a currently a major component of Indonesia’s economy. In this course, the participants will use VPD (Value Propotion Design) & Business Method Canvas as the learning method. Participants will not only learn about the principles, aspects, planning of social entrepreneurship but also experience on how to start a social enterprise.

  2. Sub - Course B: Biomedical Engineering Innovation
    In this course, participants will be introduced about 4 main innovation focuses in Biomedical Engineering, which are musculoskeletal modelling for rehabilitation, wearable sensor for human gait data, a development of braille embosser for special school needs, and ultrasound systems for catheterization. This course will give participants insight and updates on biomedical engineering technology designed and created to assist people in their lives.

  3. Sub - Course C: Introduction to Game Programming
    In this course, participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of computer programming and how they can be applied to create fun and exciting computer games. Prior knowledge in programming is not required because the concepts, problems, and methods of programming will be given from the start. Participants will learn about the basics of programming, principles of fun and games, and experience creating fun computer games.


Besides the courses, participants will also be introduced to the wonderfully diverse tradition of Indonesia. Participants will learn be treated to a fun Bahasa Indonesia class, Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) visitation, perform lively traditional Indonesian music & dance, and have fun in playing traditional Indonesian games. We also provide site visit as supporting for each course.

This program is open to active students, staff, and faculty of every university. The fee of this program is USD 1600. The fees will cover everything we have scheduled for the duration of the program, including accommodation, scheduled meals 3x a day, tuition fee, workshop materials, airport pick up & drop off services, trip to Mt. Bromo, and river rafting. However, the fee does not include personal expenses, roundtrip airfare, and travel insurance.

Additionally, we offer exciting payment schemes. Institutions that send at least 3 participants will instantly receive 1 full scholarship, 1 50% scholarship (USD 800 waiver), and 1 partial scholarship (USD 600 waiver). You may nominate which participants get which scholarship, or you may split the scholarship so that each participants will only pay USD 600 each. Please be aware that you may send up to 15 participants with details of 1 full scholarship, 1 50% scholarship, 1 partial scholarship & 4 full payment.
