On the occasion of the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers (29 May), the United Nations Information Service (UNIS) Vienna, in cooperation with this human world (THW) Film Festival and Topkino, invites you  to the Ciné-ONU Vienna screening of the movie

“The Journey of a Thousand Miles: Peacekeepers”

followed by a Q&A session with invited guests, free entry.

"A Journey of A Thousand Miles: Peacekeepers" follows a unit of 160 women who, between June 2013 and July 2014, travelled far from their families, friends and all that is familiar at home in Bangladesh to join the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH). The film focuses on three women that deployed as part of a formed police unit and on how they grapple with the challenges in a United Nations peacekeeping mission. The deployment of the all-female unit is part of the global effort to recruit more female police officers in UN peace operations. Today, over 1,300 women serve as United Nations police officers around the globe. More information
