Charles Sturt University Australia is seeking an individual with research experience in analytical techniques that can be applied to the analysis of grapes and wine. The position will suit someone with prior experience in the chemical analysis of food / wine. This might typically be in relation to microbial spoilage of food products and / or spoilage by microorganisms or the influence of plant pathogens on the chemical composition of horticultural crops.

The project will address issues of grapevine bunch rot detection / differentiation, the impact bunch rots have on wine quality (including determination of thresholds for botrytis and other rots in wine) and remedial techniques for taint removal. During the course of the project analytical techniques, such as FTIR, GC/MS, HPLC and enzyme assays will be used to achieve the project goals.
