The outline programme for the Rectors and Deans Forum can be viewed at the ICA website. The Forum focuses on the theme of the Milan EXPO with the title of Educating the Young Professionals to Feed the Planet & Provide for a Sustainable Bioeconomy.  The question we ask of our Life Science Universities is - are our curricular fit for purpose?

On the first day, at the EU Pavilion at the Milan EXPO, Franz Fischler, former EU Commissioner for Agriculture, has agreed to open the Forum by outlining the outcome of the EXPO EU Scientific Steering Committee’s discussion paper – towards a research agenda for global food and nutrition security.

This will be followed by addressing three of the challenges facing us in the 21stC, climate change, sustainable natural resource management and nutritional security.  In each of the three sessions there will be one presentation outlining the extent of the challenge and an academic respondent outlining how s/he is addressing the challenge in the curriculum.

On the second day we will further consider the education of our graduates form our life science universities to meet the challenges of 21stC.

You can register online and book your hotel.  The ICA General Assembly will be held on Wednesday 21 October at 17.00.
