At the opening of the Forum the Europe Strategy 2020 will be introduced by Rudolf Strohmeier, Deputy Director General, DG Research and Innovation with a university perspective of its implications given by Johan Schnurer, Pro-vice Chancellor Cooperation from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU). These introductions will be followed by presenters from different organisations giving their perspective on the implications of the 2020 strategy for Life Science Universities.

During the first day of the Forum there will also be the opportunity for delegates to discuss their ideas, concerns and plans for the development of education, research and innovation in their university/faculty during the period 2015 to 2020 given the framework of the EU Strategy 2020.

Delegates are invited to submit a short statement of the issues they would like to raise by Friday 12 September to Dr Simon Heath (clues(at)abdn.ac.uk ) . The theme for a statement is the "EU Strategy and the strategic implications for my university/faculty".

One or two contrasting submissions may be selected for presentation in the plenary session.  Alternatively delegates who have submitted a statement will be invited to present the issues for their University/Faculty during Session 3 Breakout Discussions when delegates will be split into groups.
