Environmental Management in Europe is an interdisciplinary 15 ECTS online course offered by the University of Copenhagen with contributions from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna, the University of Hohenheim and the European Environment Agency.

The aim of the course is to provide a solid understanding of how environmental management in Europe is applied at different scales, from the EU level to the national, regional and local levels.

During the first part of the course the tools for environmental management in EU are introduced, including environmental monitoring, assessment, modeling and valuation, as well as EU environmental law and policy. In the second part of the course the key EU environmental directives are analyzed and discussed, including the Habitat Directive, Water Framework Directive, Air Quality Directive, Climate Action and Energy Package and Soil Framework Directive, as well as the integration of environmental policies across the directives.

Teaching is based on highly flexible E-learning modules with weekly deadlines, starting with two introduction days on the 27th and 28th of August 2014, and you can follow the course from everywhere in the world.

After completing the course you will obtain a regular course certificate from the University of Copenhagen stating your final grade and that you have earned 15 ECTS for the course.

The tuition fee for continuing education students is 12.750 DKK for EU citizens and other citizens with permanent residence permit in Denmark (corresponds to approximately 1.700 €) and 26.850 DKK for non-EU citizens (corresponds to approximately 3.600 €).

The application deadline is the 4th of August 2014, but since the places are limited and the course is very popular, you are encouraged to apply as soon as possible in order to secure your place on the course.
