We are pleased to announce that the final event of the European Green Week will take place in Vienna on 3 June 2016, organized and hosted by the Austrian Ministry of the Environment and the European Commission in partnership with the European Sustainable Development Week initiative and UNEP Europe.
Young people will have to live with the consequences of how we succeed to deliver on the SDGs – they represent both an important stakeholder and a key target group for the 2030 Agenda implementation process. The Vienna event will focus on exploring political processes and discussing challenges and mechanisms to get young people more actively involved in bringing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to life. Representatives from Youth organisations in Europe will be invited to the event and get the opportunity to take part in active discussions on the SDGs, their expectations and how they can actively get involved in their implementation. In addition, organizers of activities that take place during the ESDW 2016 (especially those that relate to and/or involve youth and/or future generations) and interested experts are invited to share their experiences and learn from each other. The event will take place in the Vienna International Centre (VIC) in Vienna, Austria. Speakers will include EU Commissioner for Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Karmenu Vella , Andrä Rupprechter, Austrian Minister of the Environment, and Jan Dusik, Director of UNEP´s Regional Office for Europe.
