Dear fellow students,
as you might have heard already, there will be elections for the AustrianStudent's Union "ÖH Wahl" in two weeks (19-21st of May).
With the payment of this fee - which you’ve already done, when you arrived at BOKU- you’ve automatically become a member and therefore you are allowed to vote as well!
What does the ÖH mean?
ÖH is the Austrian Student’s Union „Österreichische Hochschülerinnenschaft und Hochschülerschaft“, which represents every student being enrolled at an Austrian university. As a member, you are fully covered by the” for damages during your practical courses. or you can use all the “ÖH facilities” such as Tüwi Garten, ÖH Lounge at Muthgasse, ÖH library which are located all over the campus.
How can I be envolved?
The Austrian Student’s union is available at every Austrian university. At BOKU, they are organizing a lot of different events and workshops and also support different organizations and projects, such as ESN, Food corp. So even though, you haven't noticed any activities of the ÖH yet, there are basically everywhere! ;)
How can you vote?
That’s really easy! You just need to go to the voting booth from 19-21th of May with you student ID!. You might have no idea for which party you should vote. But this is not a big deal. Just talk to your fellow Austrian students, what they think about the different parties or talk to different representatives directly and you will get an idea about them . Most of the time you already know some people, who are involved in the ÖH without even knowing.
So we strongly encourage you to go to the election and have an impact on the Austrian society.
And to be honest, which Erasmus student back home could say that he/she was involved in a political process abroad ;)
