Soil functions; physical, chemical and biological buffering and transformations in soils; soil erosion by water and wind; physical and chemical impacts on soil; Austrian Soil Inventory; soil protection regulations in Austria; soil protection measures.
- Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)
The aim of these lectures is to teach the students the importance of sustainable use of soils.
Students can describe main soil functions and the major impacts on the soil. They are able to assess soil erosion by water and wind as well as dislocation of pesticides in soil. They can select appropriate protection measures and evaluate their impact on sustainable soil/land use.
