Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

After completing this course the participants will be able to understand and apply to practise the European Union regulations on novel foods and health claims. They will be familiar with the suggested changes to the novel foods legislation and can apply their knowledge on novel food regulations and approvals outside European Union. The participants will also have the basic knowledge on how to prepare a novel food application and what are the important points for safety assessment. Participants will also understand the EU health claim regulation and will be able to facilitate a health claim application process as stipulated in the regulation and the European Food Safety Authority guidance.
