Quality Management I

Objective (expected results of study and acquired competences)

After succesful completion the participants are familiar with the most important methods related to quality design, control and improvement.

The participants know the meaning of quality design, quality control and quality improvement. They can apply Quality Function Deployment and the tools Q7 and M7.

The participants can explain terms like Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Computer Aided Quality Management, they know the objectives and functionalities of process control systems and Laboratory Information systems. They can explain the requirements on computerized systems for data integrity and safety.

The participants are familiar with methods of failure management and problem solving and know the Plan Do Check Act circle, methods and tools for quality improvement like Benchmarking, Balanced Scorecard und Six Sigma concept.

The participants are able to describe and analyze processes, to quantify process capabilities and to implement and interprete prcocess control charts. They are able to identify and analyse failures. They know about sampling procedures and how to quantify measurement uncertainties. They can explain terms like traceability, measurement devices and their requirements. They are able to write protocols and reports.

The participants are able to describe the procedure of the validation of analytical methods. They are familiar with different types of calibrations are able to calculate parameters like sensitivity, accuracy and detection and quantification limits.

The participants know about statistical procedures to compare methods and to conduct ring trials. They know the difference between measurement uncertainty and deviation and the procedures for their quantification.
