Factors affecting milk consumption pattern in Southern Anatolian Region: An application of a two-stage econometric model

In this paper, we use a two-stage decision choice modeling to estimate milk consumption demand patterns in Southern Anatolian Region (SAR). The models reveal that a two-stage Cragg model is more appropriate than a single Tobit model which assumes the decision to purchase milk and its products to be the same as the decision for the quantity consumed. Most of demographic and economic factors play important role in milk product consumption pattern.

Individual tastes and preferences are pole in determining the level of milk quantity demanded.

Key words: Tobit, cragg, probit, milk consumption, demand analysis.
