International doctoral candidates are explicitly invited to join ABC & M. The training language is English throughout, but also the working language in the participating departments/ institutes is mostly English.
In general, admission criteria follow the curriculum for doctoral studies in the BOKU Doctoral Schools in the current version as of 1st of October 2018. An additional agreement with items specific to ABC & M is to be signed by the doctoral candidate, the supervisor and the coordinator of the doctoral school.
Candidates should hold an MSc or equivalent degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Wood Technology and Management, Material Sciences or a related discipline including a finished Master thesis.
Graduates of ABC & M are conferred the degree of "Doktor der Bodenkultur"/"Doktorin der Bodenkultur (Doctor of Natural Resources and Life Sciences)", in Latin "Doctor rerum naturalium technicarum" and abbreviated as "Dr.nat.techn.".
