BOKU4YOU - International Students
Welcome to BOKU and to BOKU4YOU
BOKU
The University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences is committed
to contributing to the responsible and sustainable use of natural and
renewable resources, furthering their preservation and development.
Teaching and research concentrate on managing those resources, on shaping
biospheres and on applied life sciences. All BOKU degrees have in common
that at least two major disciplines are combined within one single study
with the main focus lying on the natural sciences and related technologies.
To ensure a broader outlook, every degree course also provides lectures
relating to relevant fields drawn from the social sciences, from economics
and from management.
BACHELORS AND MASTERS DEGREES
The Bachelors and Masters Degree Programme at BOKU was completely redesigned
and first implemented at BOKU in 2002. Today, eight different Bachelors
programmes are available that are designed to enable students to carry
on after successful completion with their choice selected from among the
21 Masters degrees five of which are International Masters degrees.
All Bachelors degrees are taught in German and hence international students
must have proven competence in German; this also applies for all BOKU
Masters degree courses other than the five International Masters. These
require proven competence in English.
You can find a list of the International Master Study Programs here...
ADMISSION, REGISTRATION, DATES AND DEADLINES
The Office of the Dean of Studies is responsible for admission and registration.
Though the period for admissions (for citizens of EU members) starts in September and ends in October,
it is strongly recommended that a prospective student registers as early
as possible in September, because all courses in the winter semester (the
start of the Academic Year) start on the 1st Monday in October.
AN EXCEPTION: Please note, however, that prospective students who are
not from a European Economic Area (EEA) State must apply for admission
to BOKU before the 1st of September of the Academic Year in which they
wish to study!
The winter semester finishes at around the beginning of February, the
summer semester starts at the end of February and ends at the end of June
or beginning of July.
All Bachelors and Masters courses start in the winter semester. In a few,
limited cases, it might make sense to start in the summer semester, and
for such an entry a prospective student must apply to the Office of the
Dean of Studies well in advance of the semester for permission.
