Michael Hauser is an agro-ecologist by training. Over the past ten years, he worked on sustainable agriculture, natural resource management and livelihood transition, largely in sub-Saharan Africa with some exposure to Asia. A central focus has been on innovation and change processes in agriculture. He conducts graduate and post-graduate courses on livelihood systems and participatory methods. He further offers course on development innovation and development research. He is president of AGRINATURA – The European Alliance on Agricultural Knowledge for Development and board member of the Commission for Development Studies in Vienna. E-mail
